LOOK MA I'M ABUSING LATIN AGAIN
Good luck trying to read my handwriting.
The idea for "Noki" came to me in a really simple way. I just suddenly started to think about the Finnish word "noki" that basically just means "soot".
Then I wanted to make a creature inspired by soot (pretty much just the color black). I didn't intend making it a lizard or a dinosaur, but while trying to avoid similarity with the "soot sprites" I found while googling, I had to avoid fur too and I had to use scales. See, I have this really annoying habit of copying stuff without realizing it, and it keeps me really restrained in creativity, especially if I'm composing. (I'm no Mozart, I just make happy tunes for imaginary video games.) And only now I realize I could have just used feathers. Huh.
About the Latin (partially Greek) names:
Noki noki: just repeating the name here
Noki dolichoceros: dolicho- (=long, elongated) + ceros (=horn)
Noki orthoceros: ortho- (=straight) + ceros
Noki platyceros: platy- (=flat and broad) + ceros
Noki pseudobranchia: pseudo- (=false or fake) + branchia (=gills)
Noki rostralis: rostralis (=with a beak)

I know I should italicize the names but I don't know how to do it. I'm not that into HTML. I'm more of a Basic kind of girl :I
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
And finally, yes, this is an open species, just credit me and give me the link. Even though I have no idea why you would want to make an OC out of a turtle rhino deer.
